Director, Finance (FT) Macedonia OHThe Director of Finance is accountable for assisting the Chief Financial Officer in the sound fiscal control and management of the council’s financial stability and operation. She/he provides guidance and advice to the Chief Financial Officer by recommending actions and alternatives when financial data disclosure risks, hazards, or unfavorable opportunities occur. The incumbent manages assigned financial accounting functions and budgeting operations to ensure the financial health of the council.This senior level position has the responsibility for managing the assigned day-to-day operations of the Finance Department. She/he is responsible for meeting the performance objectives and responsibilities of this position and reports to the Chief Financial Officer. The incumbent stays abreast of accounting requirements and current trends and developments in the financial and accounting field through review of publications of Girl Scouts of the USA, the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
The right individual will have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related area or equivalent relevant experience; CPA or other certification preferred; minimum 5 years of accounting experience working in either a small or medium size corporate, governmental and/or nonprofit environment; background in fund accounting and/or auditing desirable; minimum 2+ years of senior level experience with General Ledger accounting systems, managing monthly closing processes and the preparation and consolidation of monthly financial reports; minimum 2+ years management experience in supervision of staff including training, coaching and mentoring, conducting performance reviews, monitoring a budget; experience in process management skills, with setting goals and accomplishing tasks; effective written/verbal communication skills, analytical skills, problem solving, and interpersonal skills, with previous experience handling multiple priorities and meeting deadlines; demonstrated experience with computerized accounting software; specific experience with Abila, MIP software a plus; ability to pay close attention to detail and maintain confidentiality; demonstrated experience with the design, creation and analysis of a variety of accounting and financial reports using computerized accounting systems and report writers; solid computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite, with at least intermediate level Excel and a commitment to the mission of Girl Scouting.
