Pamela graduated from Langley High School in Pittsburgh and is a 1978 graduate of The University of Akron where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. Additionally, she has pursued post-graduate work at Kent State University.
Prior to becoming a staff member for Girl Scouts of North East Ohio, Pamela was a Senior Accountant for Lockheed Martin NESS Akron, a Fortune 500 company. In the Akron division of approximately 800 employees, she was the only African American accountant in the division. In her role, she was responsible for the closing of financial records on a monthly basis, all the financial reporting to corporate headquarters, and she was responsible for the tax reporting system. Additionally, she oversaw an annual budget of over one billion dollars. Pamela was a member of the Diversity Council for Lockheed Martin, where the Council makes certain that the company is diverse, that Lockheed Martin is the company of choice, and to mentor new employees from diverse backgrounds.
Pamela began her career at Goodyear Aerospace with the Staff Development Program. She moved quickly through the ranks and became an Accountant, Financial Analyst, Senior Financial Analyst, and then her current position as a Senior Accountant. In her twenty-six years of employment, her business address has remained the same although she has worked for three different companies, Goodyear Aerospace, Loral Defense Systems, and Lockheed Martin.
Pamela also served recently as the General Treasurer of the Women’s Home and Overseas Missionary Society for the African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Zion Church. Elected in 2003 at the Quadrennium Conference in Rochester, New York, she was responsible for an annual budget of over one million dollars and for all of the reports and disbursements for the Women’s Home and Overseas Missionary Society.
An active member of the Wesley Temple A.M.E. Zion Church in Akron, Ohio, she has served as the President of the Young Adult Missionary Society, the Chairperson of the Annual Prayer Breakfast, a facilitator for Vacation Bible School, a member of the Christian Education Board, a member of the Trustee Board, and involved in other church-related activities. In the A.M.E. Zion denomination, she also serves as the District President of the Women’s Home and Overseas Missionary Society and has actively promoted health, women’s, and children’s issues during her eleven years in this position, and has been elected delegate to five church conventions and five Women’s Homes and Overseas Missionary Society’s conventions. Additionally, she is a facilitator with Women of the Word Bible Study.
In addition to her religious involvement, Pamela is also actively involved in many professional and civic organizations. She served six years as the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees for Western Reserve Girl Scout Council, is a past president of the Board of Trustees for the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) of Summit County, a past Board of Trustees member for Women’s Network, and a past member of the Summit County Social Service Advisory Board. She is an active member and past two-term Chapter President of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., a non-profit public service organization committed to sisterhood, service, and scholarship. In 1988, she was honored by the National Organization as one of “75 Delta Diamonds” at the Diamond Jubilee Anniversary/National Convention in San Francisco, California.
Pamela has also served as an Advisor for Junior Achievement, a Professor of the Day for The University of Akron College of Business, a volunteer tutor and program facilitator for Caring Communities of Summit County, and is a member of the NAACP. She takes the time to mentor young persons and strives to serve as a positive role model for them.
A frequent keynote or workshop presenter, she has made presentations in California, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. She has received numerous awards for her service including, the YWCA Black Woman of Excellence Award in the Business Category, the YWCA Women of Achievement Award, the Sisterhood Award from the Akron Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Woman of the Year Award from Wesley Temple A.M.E. Zion Church, and has been recognized as an Outstanding Young Woman of America.
An avid golfer for over twenty years, she has won numerous trophies for her skills and is also a member of Tiretown Golf Club.
